Journey's Crossing
Journey's Crossing Christian Church began as a dream of the church planting staff at Christ's Church of the Capital District in Albany, New York. In July of 2000, Mark Wilkinson, one of the ministers at Christ's Church, moved to Montgomery County, Maryland, in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.
Now, seven years later and averaging 650 in attendance, Journey's Crossing is effectively reaching in and around Montgomery County, Maryland, one of the highest educated counties in America.
Montgomery County is directly adjacent to Washington DC and the church offices are just 15 miles (as the crow flies) from the US Capitol. It is also one of the most diverse counties in America, with over 80 languages spoken in the public school system.
Montgomery County is home to countless number of political workers, bio tech industries, and government agencies, including the Nation Institute of Health, NIST and the Department of Energy. Millions of unchurched people live within a 20 minute drive of the church . Unfortunately most existing churches in the area are declining and doing little to reach out to the people of the region. Journey’s Crossing Christian Church has arrived as a breath of fresh air in a region greatly in need of spiritual renewal.
In the last seven years Journey's Crossing has developed positive relationships with county and government agencies as well as attracting and converting influential workers and employees of significant business ventures. They are seeing the message of God's love and grace bring hundreds of people to Christ, by creating a church community that dispels negative impressions of church and demonstrates remarkable grace and acceptance.
