True North Community Church

In 2005, Bert Crabbe, a New York native, gathered a team of capable young Long Island leaders to establish a new church that would reach across Long Island and help those without a church to find a spiritual home. True North inaugurated services in the old Port Jefferson Church of Christ building, built by Orchard Group in the late 1960s.
Under Bert’s dynamic leadership, and with the help of a talented young staff, the church quickly outgrew the building. This past year they have been a nomadic congregation, moving from location to location. By late 2010, however, they will have completed renovations on a new space in the former corporate headquarters of one of Long Island’s largest technology companies. This new location, central to everyone in Western Suffolk County, will allow the church to grow from their current 800 to well over 2000 before they will need to update facilities again.
As they have done regularly, the church had a baptismal service in the waters of Long Island Sound in June of this year. The home page of the Orchard Group shows this most recent baptismal service.
