Lehigh Valley Project
Legacy Christian Church officially launches on September 20 of this year. The church will be meeting in a venue called Rascals Fun & Food, as it serves the Lehigh Valley of Eastern Pennsylvania. The restaurant fits the model of a Dave and Busters, but with a local flavor. They have two big party rooms for our infants and toddlers; a laser tag area for our middle school group; and a large open bar and balcony that we will use for our adult worship service.
Quite honestly folks, this is where Jesus would be – don’t ya think? Would he be sitting around discussing the finer philosophy of religion and life? I personally and humbly would submit that He would not! I think He would be hanging out with the NASCAR watching, sports watching, TV watching crowds; the festival/carnival crowds; etc. I can just see Him sitting around enjoying their company and discussing the realities of life and how He and His Father can help us through it.
That being said, things are coming along very nicely. We are still in need of funds for equipment, salary, and facility requirements. Overall however, we are very happy with what God is doing in our midst. We have gathered together a good core group of about 40 folks; and we have 3 more preview services planned prior to launch.
We are launching two more of our small groups (One Love Groups), and all three are strategically being started in different spots of the Valley. Our outreach event for the Local Food bank netted us nearly 3,500 pounds of food and grocery items in one 5-hour event! We have made several key connections in the local community to help us establish future community service events that will allow us to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the community.
We have been given the promise in Acts 1:8 that He will empower us to do mighty things such as the world has never seen! It is our prayer that we are empowered to develop and enable world-changers that will not only turn the Lehigh Valley upside down with God’s love, but the region, the country, the world! Big dream? Maybe? But we have a BIG God on our side! Our goal/intent is not about counting people – our intent is to count stories! We will count the Stories of people whose stories were intertwined with God’s story and they in turn become Legacy Makers!
