Church! of Park Slope

Canning FamilyChurch! Of Park Slope was begun in Brooklyn, New York on March 27, 2005.  The first services were held on Easter Sunday.  But the Sunday services of this new church only tell a fraction of the story.

Church! of Park Slope operates an attractive and comfortable coffee shop on a heavy foot-traffic intersection in this family-friendly Brooklyn neighborhood. The Postmark coffee shop provides a great opportunity for the staff and core group of the church to meet and build relationships. Busy people stop in on their way to work. At noon, tons of middle schoolers drop by for lunch. Single adults hang out in the evening. And preschoolers bring their parents and nannies along for "storytime." Most churches across America would love to have such a healthy connection with the community.

After one year, about seventy five people called Church! of Park Slope their spiritual home, but throughout the week, hundreds were impacted by God's love through this dynamic group of servants.

Everyone in the church is involved in service to the community. They serve in soup kitchens, clean up public parks, and offer programs for kids every week during the summer. It's hard to imagine a church doing more good for its community with fewer people. They have to have one of the greatest "community service per capita" ratios in the country!

The church continues to grow and bring in young families moving into the Park Slope area.  Brad Canning and his team are well-respected for tailoring their church planting approach to the unique community in which they live and work.
