True North Community Church
True North Community Church is a new congregation begun in an old "Go Ye" Chapel mission building. The Port Jefferson Church of Christ ceased to exist several years ago. This past fall Bert Crabbe and his team of young leaders renovated the old Port Jefferson building and began True North Community Church.
Though he did not grow up in the Independent Christian Church movement, Bert came to the Orchard Group through the Church Planting Assessment Center at Emmanuel School of Religion. A Staten Island native, Bert has a BA in English Literature from Wagner College, and a Masters of Divinity degree from Bethel Seminary.
True North was an immediate success, with over 400 attending the first services of the church. They have continued to average over 400 in attendance through their first year of existence. Bert continues to be coached and mentored by the Orchard Group team, and they have grown to love and appreciate his commitment to New Testament Christianity.
